This conference is organised by the Centre for Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics (CESAGen) and the Dutch Centre for Society and Genomics (CSG), and is called Genomics and Society: Retrospects and Prospects, at The Royal Society, London on 26-28 March 2007.
The conference will aloow for through reviewing of the findings of research undertaken to date and will question what has been discovered, the implications of these results, and the new questions they raise. The conference aims to engage many associated stakeholders and policy makers in a dialogue about the future directions of social science research. There will be international plenary and keynote speakers, including Gil Omenn, Ruth Chadwick, Brian Wynne and Paul Atkinson. Other key themes for the event will include:
changing forms of knowledge production;
public engagement with the biosciences;;
health, medicine and genomics;;
and multiple bio-economies.
The conference will involve high profile public speeches, round tables, outreach events and an academic programme, as well as the launch of the Genetics and Society book series.
